Giorgio Sommer Vaseline Glass Epergne with Three-Faun Bronze Base, 19th Century

A rare and exceptional antique vaseline glass epergne bearing the signature of Giorgio Sommer, Napoli Italy — one of the most celebrated names in 19th-century Grand Tour decorative arts. Produced in Naples for the luxury souvenir trade, this piece was acquired by wealthy European and American travelers making the classical pilgrimage through Italy, and represents the finest tradition of Italian decorative craftsmanship of the period.

The epergne features a beautifully modeled tripod base of three faun figures — a classical mythological composition beloved by Grand Tour collectors — supporting the vaseline glass vessel above. The three fauns are arranged in a tripod formation, creating a dynamic sculptural base of exceptional quality and artistry. The glass glows with the characteristic uranium-infused luminescence that makes vaseline glass so prized among serious collectors of antique art glass.
