The luminous character of white opaline provides a refined setting for the ornamental detailing, creating a piece of quiet distinction.

Dating to circa 1820–1830, within the Charles X era and the transition toward Louis-Philippe, the vase reflects the cultivated decorative taste of its period. Its chalice form lends a sculptural presence to a cabinet, mantel, or carefully arranged collection of French glass.

Decorative Tradition

The decoration is presented in the style of Jean-Baptiste Desvignes, whose name is associated with the decoration of French opaline glass.
